Specialist Courses for Specific Situations

Targeted programmes for particular populations, life stages, and circumstances
Self Assessment course

Unlike our musculoskeletal courses which help you identify and treat your driver (the underlying cause of your symptoms), these specialist courses are designed for specific situations: managing workplace ergonomics, preparing for surgery, or addressing particular aspects of your foundation layer like stress management.

Each course uses the Health & Performance Pyramid principles but applies them to your unique circumstances.

stretches-for-desk-based-workers
Stretches for Desk Based Workers

Price: £19

If you spend all day at a desk, you might be becoming ‘chair shaped’ – this can mean feeling stiff, with pain in your shoulders, neck and hamstrings. I’ve put together some stretches and exercises specifically for those people who spend all day at a desk, to help get you moving again.

Hip course
Total Hip Prehab

Comprehensive prehabilitation programme for hip replacement surgery. Similar structure to our Total Knee Prehab course, helping you prepare your body for the best possible surgical outcome.

A Word From Me...

Hello! My name is Nell Mead and I’ve been a physiotherapist for over 25 years.

While my musculoskeletal courses help you identify the hidden driver of your pain – whether your knee problem is actually coming from your feet or your ribcage – my specialist courses work differently. These programmes are designed for specific populations or situations where you already know what you need: preparing for surgery, managing workplace ergonomics, or addressing a particular aspect of your foundation layer like stress.

Each specialist course still uses the Health & Performance Pyramid principles, but applies them to your unique circumstances. Whether you’re on a waiting list for knee replacement, working from home with back pain, or struggling with chronic stress, these courses give you the targeted tools you need. The goal remains the same: to help you get rid of your pain, improve your overall physical function, and enjoy a pain-free and active lifestyle – just with a more focused approach for your specific situation.

Frequently asked questions...

I’m sure you have questions. Here, I’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked queries to help you work out if my courses are right for you.

The musculoskeletal courses help you identify your driver – the true underlying cause of your pain – and then provide targeted rehabilitation. They’re for people with musculoskeletal pain who need to work out what’s really going on.

Specialist courses are for specific situations or populations where you already know what you need. If you’re preparing for knee surgery, dealing with workplace ergonomics, or need to address stress specifically, these courses give you targeted support for that situation.

Absolutely! In fact, many people benefit from both. For example, you might work through the Foundation Layer stress management in the Yoga for Stressed People course while also identifying and treating your driver through the musculoskeletal self-assessment and rehab courses.
No. Specialist courses are standalone programmes designed for specific situations. You can jump straight into whichever specialist course matches your needs without doing the self-assessment first.

Yes! I’m currently developing courses for hip replacement prehab, as well as additional ergonomics and workplace-specific programmes. Sign up for my newsletter to be notified when new courses launch.

If you have pain or dysfunction and you’re not sure what’s causing it, start with my musculoskeletal self-assessment course – it will help you identify your driver. If you have a specific situation (upcoming surgery, workplace setup, stress management), then a specialist course is probably right for you. Still not sure? Email admin@howtobeyourownphysio.com and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Please email admin@howtobeyourownphysio.com within 14 days of purchase if you’re not satisfied with your course, and we’ll sort out a refund for you.
